Automobiles have been a part of Dave since his childhood. His dad owned a speed shop, then an auto repair shop. Some of Dave's earliest memories are of him climbing tire piles of M&H drag slicks and stacks of Cragar Wheels.

Dave's first real job was with NAPA's Auto Parts at the age of fourteen. He worked as a stock boy and continued working there through high school, college and trade school. After attending his freshman year at West Virginia University, Morgantown, W.Va., Dave decided a future as a mining engineer was not for him. He missed turning wrenches and the challenge of diagnosing and repairing vehicles. So, the next fall, he enrolled in Vale Technical Institute, Blairsville, Pa. He graduated at the top of his class and earned an Associate Degree in Auto Techniques and Management. After graduation, he went to work for the family business in Uniontown, Pa. for ten years.

Dave became an ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certified Master Technician in Advanced Engine Diagnostics at the age of only 19. At the time, he was the third youngest mechanic in the country to earn this designation.

In 1999, he and his wife Lisa became the proud owners of their own shop in Uniontown - Carney's Auto Repair Service. Carney's is a full-service automotive shop specializing in automotive diagnostics. Dave and his staff of skilled mechanics are qualified to perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on all European, Asian and Domestic vehicles, as well as install performance parts on these vehicles. When a customer brings a vehicle to Carney's, they know that Dave is involved in the servicing and repairs.

A member of the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers since 1999, Dave is an AASP Mechanical Division Director. He is also a regular columnist for Pennsylvania Automotive & Insider News, an official publication of the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of Pennsylvania.

In his spare time, Dave reads anything about the current trends in automotive repairs and he attends training seminars on average about every six weeks.

Dave and Lisa and their two children reside in New Salem, Pa.
